Ryan Companies’ latest project with partner Excelsior Group, 10 West End is the first Class A multitenant office delivered to the 394 corridor in over 20 years. Located in a booming retail and residential hub, this 343,000 SF, 11-story office building (Saint Louis Park) and adjacent parking ramp (Golden Valley) offers easy connectivity to Downtown Minneapolis, the western suburbs and the metropolitan bike trail system. Building amenities include state-of-the-art fitness center/bike room, floor-to-celling windows, a common area skydeck and lounge and a public art installation that celebrates this successful tale of two cities.

What stands today as Bridgewater Corporate Center was once a long-time vision of the Bank’s leadership team. The project was a redevelopment of a one-story vacant commercial building into a four-story 84,000-SF mixed-use office building with 3-levels of structured and on-street parking. The ground floor contains a 7,100-SF branch bank and 7,500-SF of retail, including a 4,000-SF restaurant. The project is unique in its significant contribution to usable community/green space in several different development locations.

The Omni Hotel at Viking Lakes is the mainstay of the Viking Lakes mixed-use development that includes the TCO Performance Center for the Minnesota Vikings. Designed by ESG Architects, Omni Hotel at Viking Lakes honors timeless Nordic traditions and incorporates the local flavor of the surrounding area, including hand-carved wooden pillars as a focal point in the lobby. The 14-story, 320-key hotel is abundant with amenities, including a full-service spa with a dry sauna and outdoor saltwater therapy pool, fitness center, underground parking, four dining options, and a bar terrace overlooking the Minnesota Vikings practice and training facility.

Digi-Key Electronics, a worldwide distributer of electronic components, contracted McShane to add a 2.2 million-square-foot, four-level product distribution center to their existing 800,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. With a footprint large enough to fit 22 football fields, the facility incorporates 17,000 tons of steel, 1,860 pieces of precast concrete, 20 miles of conveyors and a 70' clear height. A 328' steel bridge connects the expansion to Digi-Key’s pre-existing building. McShane overcame tough specifications, harsh weather and limited local subcontractors to deliver a world-class solution that will serve Digi-Key and the surrounding community for many years to come.

Canterbury Distribution Center is the south metro’s newest Class-A bulk distribution project. The project was developed speculatively to fulfill the e-commerce demand for modern distribution facilities. At 302,650 sq. ft. and 32’ feet clear, Canterbury Distribution Center was built to accommodate tenants with substantial loading requirements, trailer storage and high-bay racking needs.

The new 156,000-SF Kurita America industrial headquarters building includes a 32-foot-high warehouse production area with two interior 15-ton cranes, lab rooms for water testing and a two-story office space with an observation deck overlooking production. With a prominent location on the busy Highway 610, the facility consolidated and replaced three Kurita locations in Saint Michael, Plymouth and Shakopee. A welcoming entry, high level of connectivity between the two floors of the office space, and precast panel exterior with durable finishes and various colors of aggregate and concrete helped bring Kurita’s new American headquarters to life.

Schwieters Companies, Minnesota's premiere turnkey solution for interior finishes, needed a bigger building to use for staining, painting, and assembling their millwork, doors, and cabinetry. Crawford Merz and BDH partnered with Schwieters Companies to design and build a 27,180-square-foot warehouse on a 1.6-acre parcel of land adjacent to the owner's existing business park in Hugo. The new warehouse, which was designed to complement the nearby existing buildings owned by JL Schwieters Co., is more than double the size of their previous building and increases efficiencies with production and distribution.

The 160,000-square-foot Regions Hospital Birthing Center is a four-story expansion to the hospital, providing state-of-the-art care for mothers and their newborns. The Birth Center features larger rooms and family-friendly amenities, hydrotherapy tubs, postpartum suites, and “couplet care” that allows mothers and their newborns to be treated in the same room. The innovative care model will help serve Regions’ diverse patient demographic and is intentional about accommodating patients’ needs. Other elements include water birth suites, larger delivery and post-partum rooms, dedicated spaces for families and visitors and an expanded neonatal intensive care unit for infants as young as 28 weeks.

The new Shakopee Veterans Affairs provides convenient healthcare services for local Veterans, fulfilling the VA’s mission of providing Veterans readily accessible care close to home. The location eliminates the stress of travel and wayfinding to the VA Medical Center by bringing all aspects of a patient’s health right to their community. Ample daylight and spacious waiting and treatment areas support mobility and comfort of Veteran patients and their families. The team collaborated to balance the goals of the building owner: SDA, the tenant: the VA, the sustainability requirements of Green Globes, and the long-term plans of the City of Shakopee.

The Lorient is located in the Morningside and White Oaks neighborhoods of Edina at the intersection of Sunnyside Road and France Avenue South. An existing industrial dry-cleaning building, two residential homes and surface parking have been replaced with a residential & retail, mixed-use development. The project includes 45 luxury rental apartments, 6,500 square feet of restaurant and retail space, 74 below-grade resident parking stalls and 40 at-grade, enclosed public parking stalls.

Located in the heart of lively Uptown Minneapolis, Daymark Uptown is a transformative project with expansive lake and city skyline views. The complex incorporates multifamily apartments; office space for Sons of Norway, the previous property owner, with adjacent restaurant space; ample parking; and an apartment building that’s original to the block, with units at lower price points. The North and South buildings feature daylit corridors, club and fitness rooms, and the lobby has space for a coffee shop. Anchoring the corner entry and lobby is a tower replicating a daymark, with a lit cupola that’s visible for miles.

In featuring the largest amount of micro and alcove units in the city (approximately 50% of the 300 units total), BKV Group with developer partner, City Club Apartments (CCA), pairs affordable units with a robust amenity package to revitalize a location where the arts scene in Minneapolis once thrived. By simultaneously restoring the Handicraft Guild Building, a historic structure built in 1907 during the Arts and Crafts movement in Minneapolis, and attaching a 17-story structure off it, BKV Group creates an inspirational and timeless design and new downtown hub at 10th Street and Marquette Avenue.

Challenged with transforming Two22 Tower, located downtown Minneapolis, our design team developed a strategic position that embraces the character of the city’s core and became a destination for technology-forward companies. Taking advantage of the building’s foot traffic due to its connection to public transit, we activated dead space to increase utilization. The re-imagined building incorporates interactive amenities and modern design features to keep tenants and visitors engaged at every touchpoint and features a monumental staircase, dedicated space in the main entry for a pop-up kiosk, a spacious atrium gathering space, and a tranquil outdoor rooftop.

Jardin Spanish Immersion Academy desired a new location to provide daycare for roughly 150 children ages 0-5 along Cedar Avenue near County Road 42 in order to capture the visibility of commuting families. Given the limited availability for land, we identified a dental building which had roughly 0.9 acres of excess land as the most viable option. Given the small land area, creative design was required to accommodate this 12,600sf building requirement plus a 3,000sf playground area and on-site parking and stormwater ponding.
