Collin Barr Receives NAIOP Minnesota’s 2024 President’s Award

NAIOP Minnesota is proud to recognize Collin Barr with its 2024 President’s Award, NAIOP’s highest individual honor. The recipient is selected from a field of candidates nominated by members. The award recognizes outstanding service to the commercial real estate industry and salutes service to NAIOP and the community.
“Collin is an exemplary leader in the commercial real estate industry, both locally and nationally. His impact extends beyond the role he has had on countless projects and the growth of Ryan Companies. He has mentored numerous professionals who have become leaders and has been a tremendous advocate for the industry through his years of service on the NAIOP corporate board and support of NAIOP MN initiatives. Collin is truly deserving of this honor,” NAIOP MN President, David Anderson, Frauenshuh, Inc., said.
Throughout his career, Collin has done a lot to shape the landscape of the Twin Cities. He started his career as a developer at Trammell Crow Company and first joined NAIOP in 1987. In the 1990s, he led store development for fast-growing Caribou Coffee. He joined Ryan Companies in 1997 as a VP of Development, playing a key role in downtown Minneapolis projects including the U.S. Bancorp Center, Target’s corporate headquarters and the Downtown East redevelopment. Today, with more than three decades of experience in the commercial real estate industry, Collin serves as President of Ryan Companies’ Southern Division where he oversees operations and business strategy across the company’s Southwest, South-Central and Southeast regions. He also provides executive oversight to Ryan’s National build-to-suit and Retail sectors.
Collin has been an NAIOP member for 37 years and currently serves as Vice Chair of Business Development on the corporate NAIOP Board. He is also a NAIOP Research Foundation Governor. Collin also generously gives of his time to Minnesota community organizations where he serves on, has served on, or chaired boards for the Itasca Project, Bethel University, Urban Homeworks, Hospitality House Youth Center, and the Urban Land Institute. He also previously chaired the Minneapolis Downtown Council Board of Directors.
