Recap: The Market in Motion

December 2, 2019

The Market in Motion program at the Lumber Exchange Event Center featured a headline panel with John Griffith, Senior VP of Real Estate & Development for Life Time; Phil Cattanach, VP & GM at The Opus Group; and Peter Frosh, CEO of GREATER MSP.

Moderated by Minnesota Wild commentator Mike Greenlay, the discussion covered an array of topics on the factors influencing Minnesota business decisions and commercial real estate. Using the GREATER MSP Regional Indicators Dashboard, the speakers discussed how the labor market, employee wages, construction costs, infrastructure and more are impacting development and redevelopment conditions in the Minnesota market. The speakers also went into their views on how the office, industrial, retail and multi-family segments are performing.

John detailed Life Time’s expanding activities in Minnesota and other markets, including its mixed-use residential communities and co-working offices. Both Phil and John talked about current and upcoming projects, including repurposing retail centers. Peter discussed how our market is positioned in labor force participation and household income, and how these factors are impacting business decisions.
