NAIOP Minnesota Announces Phil Cattanach as 2021 President

January 12, 2021

New officers and directors announced for 2021 NAIOP Minnesota Board

Phil Cattanach, vice president and general manager, Opus Development Company, LLC, will serve as NAIOP Minnesota’s 2021 President. Cattanach started his one-year term January 1, succeeding 2020 President Anders Pesavento of Ryan Companies US, Inc.

Cattanach first started working with Opus Development Company in 2006, initially with a role in the construction field before transitioning over to the commercial real estate industry. As Vice President and General Manager, he oversees projects in retail, office, industrial, multi-family and more in the Twin Cities, Iowa and Nebraska. Cattanach joined NAIOP in 2013, quickly making a name for himself as an active volunteer. He served as chair of NAIOP Minnesota’s Public Policy Committee from 2016-2018 and has been on the Board of Directors since 2020 when he was elected Vice President.

As he looks ahead at 2021 and NAIOP’s priorities, Cattanach sees signs of optimism. “Without question 2020 presented our industry, and the world, with unprecedented change. This change is continuing into 2021, but with signs of optimism emerging. Nowhere is this more evident than in commercial real estate. As we move through this uncharted territory, NAIOP’s involvement in communicating, collaborating and assisting the industry will be our most significant focus. This will manifest itself in the educational sharing of best practices, the advocacy with our elected officials pertaining to building owners and tenants, and the networking opportunities we all thrive on as we continue to work towards a ‘new normal’. While we can all agree that 2021 will represent continued change; we can take comfort in the foundational constant of NAIOP being a resource for all members,” said Cattanach.

Ryan Bartley, Link Logistics Real Estate, will serve as vice president, Joe Schweitzer, BMO Harris Bank, will serve as treasurer and Connor McCarthy, United Properties, will serve the board as a member. This is Bartley, Schweitzer and McCarthy’s first year serving on NAIOP Minnesota’s Board of Directors.

Anders Pesavento, Ryan Companies US, Inc.; is the board’s immediate past president.
