Report: C-I taxes ‘burdensome'

The state’s taxation of industrial and commercial properties is an “egregious outlier,” according to a new report from the Commercial Real Estate Development Association of Minnesota, also known as NAIOP.

Minnesota is one of four states that use statewide property taxes to fund its state general fund appropriations — and is the only state that exclusively taxes industrial and commercial properties to support this fund. Experts with NAIOP say this taxation is limiting opportunities for business growth and relocations in the state.
