2020 Results & Team Proposals
17th Annual University Challenge
Student teams from regional universities are charged with pitching a deal to potential investors that involves the most profitable yet feasible project that maximizes value while achieving the highest risk adjusted return.
The teams are asked to address a development plan, construction timeline, budget, pro-forma, leasing plan and schedule, financing plan and market analysis.
The Site
The subject of this year's case competition is Canterbury Commons, a large-scale development surrounding Canterbury Park. The site is owned by Canterbury Park Holding Company.
Canterbury Park, along with Valley Fair, Mystic Lake and the Renaissance Festival, attract 10 million visitors per year. Canterbury alone has one million annual visitors to the horse racing, card room and live events.
The students will be asked to create a development plan for 18.5 acres of the Canterbury Commons site, next to the grandstand and wrapping around part of the racetrack.
Additional site information available at www.canterburycommons.com.
