Partnership between commercial real estate development association and charitable foundation will provide additional local academic scholarships to military dependents.

MINNEAPOLIS ─ April 8, 2022 ─ NAIOP Minnesota announced a partnership with military foundation Folds of Honor Minnesota Chapter to help provide additional academic scholarships for military families.

“We are grateful to NAIOP Minnesota for its commitment to Folds of Honor and the military families that we serve,” Lt. Col. Dan Rooney, founder and CEO of Folds of Honor, said. “A life-changing education is one of the greatest gifts a person can receive, and NAIOP understands that. The individuals receiving these academic scholarships need and deserve our help. NAIOP joining our mission will make a real impact in the local community.”

NAIOP’s Community Enhancement Chair, Stefan Michno, Kraus-Anderson says, “NAIOP chose Folds of Honor because their mission ─ to provide scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen soldiers and disabled service members ─ resonates closely with many of our members who know soldiers or have family that served in the United States military.

“It’s important for NAIOP to actively support community organizations in order to enhance the communities that we live in. We strive to make an impact on the lives of those that need it most. It is important to us that NAIOP isn’t seen as only a great place for real-estate professionals to network with other professionals in similar industries, but also as a place where bright minds can come together to volunteer their time and money to give back to their communities,” Michno added.

Since the 2015-16 academic year, Folds of Honor has awarded nearly 500 scholarships in the Minnesota area. For 2021-22, 116 were provided locally. “Our mission probably says it the best: ‘Honor Their Sacrifice. Educate Their Legacy,” Rooney explained. “Since we began, our objective has never wavered. We’re honored that NAIOP will be there with us,” Rooney added.
