This award recognizes an individual recognized for service to the real estate industry as founder, catalyst and promoter of the industry’s economic and professional growth, for service to NAIOP Minnesota and for service to the community.
NAIOP Minnesota is proud to award its 2011 President’s Award to Jeff Eaton. Jeff’s long-time and active leadership within the commercial real estate industry has benefited many within his company, NAIOP, and the larger community.
Jeff has been a NAIOP member since he started his real estate career in 1983. In addition to multiple terms on the NAIOP Minnesota board, Jeff was president in 2006 and has served as chair of the Public Policy and the Long-Range Planning committees. At the end of 2011, he finished a three-year term on the national NAIOP Corporate board of directors. With a long-standing interest in public policy, Jeff volunteered for many years on the Public Policy committee, was instrumental in the formation of its Political Action Committee and continues to offer resources to reduce commercial real estate taxes and improve the business climate in Minnesota.
As president of Cushman & Wakefield|NorthMarq, Jeff oversees this newly formed partnership, offering transaction services, occupier and investor services, capital markets and real estate advisory locally and globally. Jeff directed the creation of the joint venture in late 2011, which resulted in the largest real estate services firm in the Twin Cities. Cushman & Wakefield|NorthMarq is an independent operating companywithin the Marquette Real Estate Group, a real estate holding company owned by the Pohlad Family of Companies.
Jeff was instrumental leading the company through a number of other organizational and structural changes. In 2008, Jeff became president of NorthMarq Real Estate Services when United Properties reorganized into three separate companies and moved the services businesses under the NorthMarq brand with NorthMarq Capital. In 2009, he led the acquisition of the Opus Property Services group.
In the community, Jeff always volunteers with NAIOP Minnesota’s charitable partners, including its current partner Catalyst Community Partners and prior partners Hope for the City, Bridging and Cornerhouse. He also volunteers with Boys and Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities, Feed My Starving Children, and has spent many years coaching youth sports.
Jeff is a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors®, is on the board of directors for the Minnesota Taxpayers Association, and serves on the editorial boards of the Minnesota Real Estate Journal and Minnesota Business.
