NAIOP Minnesota continues to be a committed and active participant in any legislative discussions that may significantly alter the fiscal disparities program because of its total reliance on the commercial/industrial property tax base in the metro area.
As the demand for public revenue sources has increased, proposals to take tax base from the fiscal disparities pool to finance both private and public projects have emerged.
This heightened the concern of NAIOP Minnesota’s Public Policy Committee, who asked the Fiscal Disparities Task Force to review NAIOP’s position on the program and make a recommendation. Read the position statement, the result of that process.
